Sleeping with the Enemy

“’Yet I reserve seven thousand in Israel—all whose knees have not bowed down to Baal and all whose mouths have not kissed him.’”  1 Kings 19:18

I cannot help but think of intimacy when I read this verse.  All but the seven thousand in Israel had entered into an intimate relationship with Baal.  God is indeed a jealous and zealous God.  Israel had forsaken their communion with God Almighty for the whore called Baal.  They left true relationship to be with a false god.  God called the relationship for what it was.  Amazing how close we can get with our false gods and forsake relationship with the One True Living God!
