Paralyzer

“There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear.”  1 John 4:18A

Pastor Johnny Hunt made a great challenge when it comes to reading the Word of God.  He said, “Look at what the text is NOT saying.”  (paraphrased)  A simple challenge was presented.

I remembered it as I read this verse.  I’ve always fixated on love driving out fear.  But, I never role-reversed.  The truth is that since “there is no fear in love” that these two cannot co-exist.  Since they cannot co-exist, fear is perfectly capable of DRIVING OUT love.  It was a simple yet stunning truth to me!

Fear is the great paralyzer.  It will stop us dead in our tracks (physically, mentally, and spiritually).  Love is the prime motivator to get us moving.  Are we loving and casting out fear, or is fear casting love out of our hearts?
